What Is Conformation Show Handling
Conformation is the sport of presenting a purebred dog for evaluation of his or her breeding qualities. At conformation shows, dogs are examined by a judge who determines how each subject compares to the “perfect” dog as established by the official standard for each breed. Consideration is given to appearance and physical condition, structure, movement and temperament.
We offer show handling classes for those looking to prepare their puppies and young dogs for the conformation show ring. This class teaches handlers looking to get started in show training, as well as more experienced handlers who are looking for an opportunity to fine tune their show rings skills in a small group class environment. You will learn basic of presentation skills, how to enter a dog show, ring patterns, how to calculate championship points and more.
Fee: $120. Classes run one hour per week for 6 weeks
You are required to have a suitable show collar and lead that will also control your dog. Please wear comfortable shoes.
