What Is Basic Obedience

A basic obedience goal begins with teaching your dog proper manners so that he/she will be a well behaved family and community member.   Our classes teach you how to train your dog so you can apply consistent principles throughout your pet’s life.  We teach foundation commands (watch me, sit, down, stay, come, leash walking, no  jumping, leave it) and how to communicate with your dog in a way that he/she will understand. Consistently applied, your dog will behave at class, at home, or wherever you may wish to take him/her.  The class also serves to socialize your dog with people and other dogs.  We train basic obedience by establishing human/dog relationships such as trust, discipline and control. A trained dog is an enjoyable family companion.

The Beginner Obedience class is the first level and is a prerequisite for most other classes.

Obedience registration is limited so register early to avoid disappointment.  If you are uncertain which class to register for, please contact the Training Director at training@reginakennelclub.ca
